Client portals have been around for years, but the level of frustration in the practice management space remains high. After dozens of conversations with firm owners, the same complaints kept surfacing: clients can't find documents, the portal doesn't look like the firm, internal notes leak to clients, and the upload flow is a usability nightmare.
The fixes aren't exotic. Brand the portal — properly, with the firm's logo and palette. Make the visibility model explicit: every document and message carries a flag, and the client view is filtered server-side. Make uploads tolerant: allow batch, preview, retry. Make downloads obvious.
We built each of these into Taxos as defaults rather than configuration. Firms shouldn't have to think about visibility — the system should make the safe choice automatic and the unsafe choice impossible.
